We had a delightful evening at San Carlo over the weekend. We were seated quickly, at a lovely table on the top floor. The only thing I didn't like was the walk down the stairs to the toilet - which was frequent due to the copius amounts of wine that we were drinking!
Our food came quickly and look delicious. More importantly however, it tasted delicious. The monk fish was so tender, and cooked to perfection. My partner had lobster, after a recommednation from a friend, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and our friends had traditional pasta dishes, both of which they were very pleased with.
I highly recommend San Carlo if you're planning on eating out in Birmingham, and want something that little bit special

Over the weekend, we visited San Carlo. It was very busy indeed, with every table being occupied. Due to not having booked, we were advised there was a short wait on tables, and shown to the lovely bar area downstairs. We sipped on chilled rose, whilst admiring the beautiful interior of the restaurant. We only had to wait about 25 minutes before we were taken back upstairs and seated at a great table, over looking the entrance. Our food order was taken quickly, and the food came out immediately, it seemed. After we finished our meal, I expeted to feel like we had to vacate our table, however that wasn't the case, despite there being several groups of people waiting to be seated. The staff were lovely, and very chatty and friendly. We had a lovely evening - the restaurant deserves all of the great reviews that they have!

We ate at San Carlo on Saturday night and it was a great choice. The atmosphere was lively and got us in the mood for a Saturday night out. The food was delicious - my girlfriend had spaghetti bolognaise, and I had the San Carlo chicken dish. Both dishes were beautifully presented, and came within 15 minutes - very very quick for a Saturday night!
Very impressed - will defintely be returning!

I live about 40 minutes from Birmingham, but I feel that San Carlo is worth travelling the distance. I love eating at San Carlo - the restaurant is just so beautiful, and the staff are all so friendly and cheerful. The food is absolutely delicious - the fish is always so tender and tastes gorgeous. The wine list is always extensive and the staff are always knowledgable and offer advice when we need a recommendation.
It's a shame there isn't a San Carlo closer to home, as I would love to visit more regularly.

Took a female friend for a meal here and had an awesome time. The staff made banter with us all night, and had us crying with laughter at one point!!
Definitely the best Italian in Birmingham by far!
